Preview: “To Revolutionary Type Love”

“To Revolutionary Type Love” is a series of 100 original, hand-made khanga-and-kitenge pieces that I will be creating to celebrate the existence of romantic love in its many forms. In Kenya, it is a common celebratory gesture to lay khangas down to adorn a path as a welcome to the newly married couple during wedding festivities, and it is this powerful gesture of celebration that inspired me to take up the use of this medium for my work.

As the first khanga design in the series, the above print is the only one out of the 100 that I will make available for purchase as a limited edition giclée print. If you would like to obtain one of the 100 hand-signed-and-numbered prints that will be available, please reach me via my contact information and we’ll figure it out from there 🙂

Translation of Kiswahili text: Paulo Coelho’s quote “Love does not need to be understood. It needs only to be shown”
Print size: A3 (297 x 420 mm) or (11.7″ x 16.5″) on watercolour paper
Price: KES 17,000

An important NOTE on buying artwork that you’re viewing on a monitor and which is destined to be printed: to get a better idea of what the printed version will look like, turn your monitor’s brightness down quite a bit as bright backlighting cannot be replicated in print.

Would you also like to know what else I am up to? If so, you can check out my in-progress art projects here to see what I have in store for you.
